Handmade High Flying Easter Bunnies

Welcome Spring. Bunnies are happily hopping out of the studio and to their new homes. I have a good supply in stock for Easter shoppers.

Not only are they hand made with love, but I test each and every one for his/her high flying ability. High jumps are a must when it comes to Bliss Forest bunnies! Made for cuddles, tough enough for action! Speaking of tough, the newest addition to the bunny line, is the blue ninja bunny- ready to raid the cookie jar.

Zombie Bunnies

Ok, things are getting hairy in the studio.... the Zombie bunnies have consumed my secret supply of jelly beans and clearly want to move onto bigger and better things....... frankly I'm a little afraid to go sew now. Don't you want to house one? Maybe it's best to separate them at this point.

High Flying Easter Bunnies - new friends

New Easter bunny colors have hopped into the shop! Handmade plush, ready to pounce into your Easter basket. Colors to suit every child, including Ninja bunnies for your little ninja.

It's funny that Easter is in April this month. On my birthday no less. This year, I've asked my kids to bake my birthday cake on their OWN- no input from me. They are 7 and 10, should I take photos? Right now, I'm downloading my camera, and I wonder why it's taking so loooong to get all the photos loaded....... oh, must be the fifty frames my boys took of each other in the back seat of the car....... lol!

High Flying Easter Bunnies are Back!

The high flying Easter bunnies of Bliss Forest are back! I've been having so much fun, making new bunnies and replenishing all the favorites of last year. Here is Sunny Bunny - ready to bounce into your easter basket. :-)

Candy Stripes high flying Easter bunny.

Coming soon: my first, for-sale, bunny pattern!

Hmm, what do you make of this? I found this sour looking bunny in my studio one evening. Did he eat too many jelly beans in preparation for Easter or did he turn........ zombie?

The Season for Spooky

Good morning!
I'm getting back into the fall studio routine now that the little ones are in school and soccer.

Halloween, and Dia De Los Muertos are great holidays for inspiring creativity. I took great delight in creating two 8" Vampire Bunnies. This time I hand embroidered their faces. New coffee cozies include Calavera, seen here, and Sugar Skulls.

Skulls have gone from being "morbid" imagery, to "punk", they have followed the upsurge in pirate popularity, and have recently established themselves as cute and decorate motifs for children's clothing and cotton prints. My skull fabric collection keeps growing!

I also have a good sized collection of Zodiac fabric. I loved using the cute prints used to make set
of Zodiac pouches (one seen iin this treasury).

Happy week to everyone!

New Gnome Friends

Willow Wildwood

New gnome friends at BlissForest. I love making plush gnomes. I may cut several colors of body shapes out at a time- just based on colors I want to work with, but when I go to make one the personality emerges so fully, I'm unable to go any other way. Each one is unique and special. Their little life stories form in my mind as I sew and stuff. I think I smile a lot.

Blissfull Fairies

When all the Easter bunnies hopped off to their new homes, these brand new Fairy Bunnies started showing up. Sparkly tummies and wings! They hop and fly and giggle. Come visit them at Bliss Forest.

This is my table at the recent Meet Your Maker show. A girl has to make much of a 2 1/2' space. I've learned to sit next to my table rather than behind it and miss out on vertical space! You can just make out the bins of eager bunnies, and the wiggly ninja bunnies climbing the ropes. The show was great fun, with a constant stream of shoppers (that's how we like it) who were friendly and chatty (that's also how we like it). I really enjoy having a monthly show to sell my work locally, be part of the First Friday Art Walk downtown AND see so many of my crafter friends at once.

It was so pleasing how many High Flying Easter Bunnies found lovely homes all over the world via etsy. One went as far as Greece! And one Neen Jah Buhn Nee got customized for a special home in Singapore. xoxoxoxs to all my bunny friends in Canada and the UK. Making plush cuteness is a very rewarding job.

Where oh where?

where oh where have I been?

Let's guess..... have I been locked in the studio, training heaps of wild High Flying Easter bunnies??

Have I been hiding in a snow cave??

Have I been on a journey to the ends of the Earth??

Have I been sitting at the computer till my European beads jewelry store got it's first treasury???

And the answer is...

Yes, yes, and yes, but not the last one, although I am nicely pleased about that!

We took two actual vacations in March, and one day trip out of town. Including a get-away during spring break and now I'm BUSY. Holy mackerel Easter Bunny!!! I am sooo busy.

I planned well, but life has a way of gently expressing,
"HOW DARE YOU GO AWAY FROM HOME!!!!!"

So I've been a tad busy this week.

April 5th is the Crafty Wonderland show and I hope to pop up to Portland and attend if I can. It's a huge craft fair with special things going on. See flyer below.

Information from Crafty Wonderland:
This is a special show for two reasons: it's our 3rd birthday so we'll have some surprises...and that weekend is the Portland premier of Handmade Nation, the indie craft documentary, at the Museum of Contemporary Craft!

Faythe Levine (the filmmaker) will be at Crafty Wonderland to meet visitors and sign/sell copies of her book, also titled Handmade Nation. And we're having a special Handmade Nation themed DIY Table project! Some of the crafters featured in her film/book are going to be there as well! Read more about the film here: http://indiecraftdocumentary.blogspot.com/

Neen Jah the Buhn Nee

Here she comes, right on cue, swinging her way down to meet everyone! Welcome Neen Jah the Buhn Nee!

She coils her grapling hook and rope expertly, and poses for the picture.....

Here she is on her first day here, already escaping from the studio window, crusing down the bamboo to the ground. I'm happy to say three Ninja bunnies have already gone out into the world: one as far as Calgary Canada, and one to England! They LOVE adventures. And all their sisters back at home are plotting their very own missions of such excitment. Claim yours here.

Neen Jah Buhn Nee DOES especially like to play hide and seek! She'll count up to twelve in Japanese before hopping to find you.... better hide quick.

Happy Spring!

Meet Your Maker Dec -Indie craft show

I was really glad I got into the Meet YOur Maker show this month. I had returning customers happy I was there, and people who had seen my write up (along with many other local etsians) in the Eugene Weekly Gift Guide. The show was great for me. Thanks for a great monthly event all year, Amy and Megan.

My crazy-full display table. I had a small spot and was NOT messing around! Bin of big plush gnomes, TREE with ornaments, bin of coffee cozies, bin on wrist warmers, bin of applique wrist warmers...... fun fun fun!

Mushrooms, gnomes, gift giving monsters, and colorful birds.....

Very famous model Scott Cunningham working the runway with my Pebbles and BamBam wrist warmers. Hot hot HOT! And girls, yes, he's single. :-)

Gnomies

The debut of the gnomies! These guys are big too! 17" tall and wearing cute fleece snowsuits! They like downhill skiing, snowflake collecting, and stinky cheese.

Hey, wait, who's that dark one in the back? He's got a pale face and sour expression..... is it a gnome gone bad? Past his expiration date, perhaps?

Who's this cute gnomie in green holding Oolin?

Sven and Oolin are available at my etsy store.

I'm off to the Holiday Market this weekend: 10-6 Fri-Sunday. See you there!

New Ornaments

Gift Monster is excited to be an ornament this year. It likes Christmas a whole lot, loves wrapping presents, but always feels shy at the last moment of giving. Might you have any egg nog? Available in my etsy store.

It was fun to have a friend here, as I turned him from a sketch into a stuffed ornament using my Gocco machine. It's a very easy process (once you know what you are doing.....) and so fulfilling. I hand-painted the gift boxes after the ornament was sewn and stuffed.

This is the wee gnome family. They love taking long walks in the woods, swinging on christmas trees and giggling. They are made from felt and wool. You can order your gnome family with two mamas, two papas, or one mama and papa.

I'm working all this week to stock up for a Holiday Market weekend. I'm there sharing a booth #62, with Practical Rabbit, this next Friday, Sat and Sunday, come visit!

I Won!?!!

A package arrived at my door one day. Don't we all love mail? Especially etsy mail?! It was from AdoptACritter, saying I'd won her sweet give-away, and Brobe was now mine to care for.

He hopped right out of the box and after a brief stretch, he introduced himself and was such a friendly guy! He's so smart and scientific and stuff.... I hate to admit it, but I guess I just expected he'd have fewer..... social skills. He really is fun and playful and so witty! Here he is sharing a bit of my homemade fruit smoothie.

Mudslide Sydney, Brobe and our beloved Oogly. They spent much of the afternoon is the top of the plum tree together. He even spent a day at Kindergarden, and got to be the subject of Show-N-Tell.

Thanks for our new friend, AdoptACritter!

This lovely treasury hit home page! Oooooo, la la!
Thanks for including me Syko!
