Bliss Time

I love Spring in Oregon. My trees are kind enough to take turns blooming, so there's weeks and weeks of pink or white petals to view out back.

March and April are a "new years" time in Bliss Monkey Studio. The holiday sales slow down in Feb, I get a chance to Spring clean office and studio. (I plan to show before and after pics of these events! LOL!). And it's a time to think about the year ahead as well as develop new products.

Most of you know that I have three stores. My products for Bliss Monkey are cyclical, while Charmish beads and Bliss Forest plush are similar product lines year round.

What is next? See my new Super Girl bag? I made it for myself, but it's an experiment for 2010 Bliss Bags. I do a summer line every year and its fun to invent something totally new.


The blooms smell gorgeous, and I can hear the hum of many honey bees hard at work.


This is the back side with angled pocket for cell phone. Are you like me and can not HEAR your phone ring if it's down inside your bag? Plush this bag is HUGE, to hold water, snack and change of clothes for gym or pool.

I have recently become intrigued with hot pink and orange, and saved up a heap of fq to play with.

The close up shows the amount of free motion quilting (my fav part!) and the raw edge trianges that I trimmed the bag with.



The Super Girl print/applique was made for me by artist friend, Helisengezer, in Istanbul. I've saved her for over a year before finding the right project to feature her in. I love this print because she looks like she's done her Super work for the day. Cape dirty and job well done, she heads home for a snack.

Zombie Bunnies

Ok, things are getting hairy in the studio.... the Zombie bunnies have consumed my secret supply of jelly beans and clearly want to move onto bigger and better things....... frankly I'm a little afraid to go sew now. Don't you want to house one? Maybe it's best to separate them at this point.

High Flying Easter Bunnies - new friends

It's funny that Easter is in April this month. On my birthday no less. This year, I've asked my kids to bake my birthday cake on their OWN- no input from me. They are 7 and 10, should I take photos? Right now, I'm downloading my camera, and I wonder why it's taking so loooong to get all the photos loaded....... oh, must be the fifty frames my boys took of each other in the back seat of the car....... lol!

Gnome Tattoo

Isn't this gnome tattoo cute? No it's not mine! I have been working on some hand carved gnome stamps and the thought just occurred to me, "I wonder if anyone has gnome tattoos?" Of course. Anything you can think of has probably been made into a tattoo. LOL.

Anyone else watching L.A. Ink? Their tattoo work is gorgeous! No tiny tattoos there. I find it interesting to learn why people are getting their tattoos. Most folks on the show want an image to represent something they love, or something they have overcome.

Bliss

High Flying Easter Bunnies abound, literally, this time of year. My studio is filled with the bouncy little critters. Two of the new ones this year, have dipped themselves in color for the popular egg dyed look.... sheesh! They are exercising like crazy for the big day. Sort of like bunny Olympics in my studio.


New One Bird Tree and Oceania wrist warmers currently available. I love trees and just planted four fruit trees in my yard. We've created an orchard of dwarf trees in the hen's play pen. The girlz will keep weeds down and nibble up any dropped fruit, keeping the ground clean and bug free. Pretty good deal! The kids are already wondering if we'll get cherries, apricots or apples the first year.

Pretty Little Quilts

Pretty Little Quilts by Lark books is out. YEY! I wrote a how to project for this book a year ago, so it's great to see it in print. There are some great projects in this book. I love the little quilt of the whole family's hands traced, then embroidered in red.

So my project is the Tea Time quilt that is on a house shaped frame for hanging. The piece itself is for sale at Hope for Haiti etsy shop to enable Doctors Without Borders, to do their great work.

Oh Fi-ya!

It's fun to be in people's treasuries on etsy. Anyone can "curate" their own treasury, you just have to know when the treasuries are open for new postings and NAB one! Fun to make a theme or fav color treasury. This one seems to be inspired by a fire that really happened! Yikes.

I am moving my kids wrist warmers from my AlyTheRed Bliss Monkey Studio shop to Bliss Forest. I think they'd make a good addition to spring Easter baskets. Wrist warmers to accompany the plush bunnies. :-)
